The wall consists of two distinct rows of stones, one superimposed upon the other and separated by a 0.10–0.30 m thick layer of mud. The upper row lies at the same top elevation as ^wall4 and consists of a linear arrangement of medium- and small-sized rough stones. It represents a later construction phase built directly above an earlier wall. The underlying wall is composed of a row of medium- to large-sized undressed stones. The medium-sized stones are set upright, while smaller stones and mud mortar were used to fill the wider joints. The wall has partially collapsed to the south, where several loose stones were recovered. A deposit of mudbrick collapse lies immediately south of the wall. It is therefore possible that this wall was constructed to retain or delimit the debris accumulated on its southern side. [Input: ZK630pC.j] |
